Vermillion Lies - What's in the Box?

Boekbinder, known for their theatrical stage flair and burlesque accompaniment, have long written hilarious songs on topics both topical and nonsensical.

"What's in the Box?" is easy to enjoy, often sounding like a modern take on a low-rent Victorian stage show, especially with songs like "Blue" and the down-South river chorus of "She Comes."

The album's third track, "Global Warming," is a cute commentary on current culture ("It's hot "¦ not cool!"). Science and the solar system are given some tango sex appeal in "The Astronomer," reminding us that "Mercury is the hottest" and that "your Milky Way is all over me" in a funny jingle that should be added to middle-school science classes to encourage class participation.

"What's in the Box?" Simple: a wonderful CD filled with 14 laugh-out-loud and stylishly funny cuts.
