Edmond Visual Arts Council, chamber partner on art piece for anniversary

The Edmond Visual Arts Council unanimously agreed to partner with the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce on the art piece entitled "Legacy" at a June 20 meeting.

To be used as a legacy piece to commemorate the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce's 100th Anniversary, the piece will be dedicated in October during the Chamber's open house.

"The reason this piece is called 'Legacy' is because that is what the business community is leaving for Edmond's future," said Saundra Naifeh, Chair of the Edmond Chamber Centennial Task Force, in a statement. "This work honors our past business leaders in Edmond while providing a beacon for the future."

With glass original work by Greg Reiche, the 8-1/2 foot art piece will be placed in front of the Edmond Chamber building.

The art piece is sponsored by local business leaders including presenting sponsor Edmond Life and Leisure, gold sponsor Randal and Dana Shadid, silver sponsors Dr. Krista Jones, Wayne Pettigrew, Saundra Naifeh, and contributing sponsors Ruth Boss, MIDCON Data Services and First Commercial Bank. - Gazette staff
