Er ... maybe this one isn’t worth fanfare.

The Oklahoma city of Lawton, nestled close to
the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge and Fort Sill, seems like an
idyllic spot to settle. You have mountains and bison and ostensibly a
feeling of safety, thanks to the proximity of the U.S. Army artillery
school. Alas, when you hear that dull pop of firearms, it could be gang
warfare, not field practice.

Researchers
at 24/7 Wall St., a financial news and opinion website, analyzed the
FBI’s Uniform Crime Reports data to identify 10 metropolitan areas with
the largest increase in crime between 2005 and 2010. Lawton made the
list at No. 6. But, hey, the news isn’t all gloomy. At least Lawton
isn’t Redding, Calif., which had the distinction of ranking No. 1.
