Oklahoma City is getting ready for winter – and this year, residents can help give the City’s snowplows a little personality.
The City is asking the public to submit names for its fleet of 34 snowplows, with suggestions inspired by everything from OKC landmarks and neighborhoods to the Thunder, Route 66, local food, arts and culture – or simply a good snow-related pun.
Residents can submit ideas through Oct. 16 at the City’s snowplow website. Thirty-four names will be selected, with the winners announced Oct. 21 on the City’s social media channels and online.
Once winter weather arrives, residents will also be able to follow snowplow activity through an online map showing where crews have operated, snow-route conditions and winter driving information.
So whether your inspiration is Bricktown, Blizzardtown or something considerably more clever, your creation could soon be clearing snow and ice from Oklahoma City streets.
