Blame it all on Gov. Christie

One could argue that of all the rigid ideologues in Washington, the always cordial and open-minded (LOL) Sen. Jim Inhofe doesn’t share much of the partisan, political my-way-or-thehighway cake. Just look at what he said about the presidential prospects of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, a Republican who (gasp) worked with President Obama in the […]

Nothing to blow up about

But one can’t be too careful. The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Department was called to the scene along SE 59th Street near Eastern. They found nothing. No boom, no bang. Typically, the only banging in Valley Brook comes from inside the strip clubs. The driver of the car was detained but later released. It’s unclear if […]

‘Bumper’ had prior history

At the time of his arrest, News9 reported that The Oklahoman knew about Campfield’s previous misconduct — he also was accused of taking pictures up girls’ skirts at the Oklahoma State Fair in 2012 — and also that his editor said he was not on assignment at the graduation ceremony, though the FBI and those […]

Sex offenders are now less offender-y?

In 2007, the Oklahoma Legislature passed a new measure that created a three-tiered risk assessment level. That law requires sex offenders to be placed on the registry for 15 years, 25 years or life, depending on their assessment levels. The problem focuses on offenders who had been convicted, sentenced and placed on the registry prior […]

Hmm … more corporate tax breaks?

The Sooner state is at No. 36, which means only 14 other states impose overall tax structures that are more burdensome. The ranking was unchanged from the 2013 report. However, there was good news. Property tax collections averaged $642 per person, the fourth lowest nationally. Meanwhile, the state’s income tax system consists of seven brackets […]
