Former Congressman and gubernatorial candidate Ernest Istook is joining the Foshee & Yaffe Law Firm, according to a press release.

Istook, a distinguished fellow at the Washington, D.C.-based conservative think-tank The Heritage Foundation, represented Oklahoma’s 5th Congressional District for 14 years before unsuccessfully challenging incumbent Gov. Brad Henry in 2006.

“Congressman Istook is a welcomed addition to our firm,” Jerry Foshee said in a statement.  “Congressman Istook has been a friend for a long time and is an outstanding attorney.”

Blake Yaffe expressed enthusiasm about Istook joining the firm.

“Congressman Istook’s experience and knowledge are exceptional assets to our firm,” Yaffe said.

Istook previously served in state Legislature, sat on the Warr Acres City Council and worked as a staffer for then-Gov. David Boren. He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism at Baylor University and holds a law degree from Oklahoma City University. – Gazette staff
