Jesus House is moving forward with plans for a new Oklahoma City campus that will expand its ability to provide long-term residential recovery services.
The Oklahoma City Planning Commission has approved the organization’s relocation plans, with final consideration by the Oklahoma City Council still pending. The project will transform a former hotel in northwest Oklahoma City into a recovery campus nearly four times larger than Jesus House’s current facility.
The renovated property will include additional residential space, programming areas and updated facilities designed to support individuals recovering from addiction and working toward independent living.
“For more than five decades, Jesus House has helped individuals move from addiction and instability toward recovery, employment and independent living,” said Dr. Christine North, president and CEO of Jesus House. “This is much more than a new building. It is an investment in people and in the future of our community.”
Founded in 1973, Jesus House provides long-term residential recovery programs that help residents overcome addiction, secure employment, find stable housing and rebuild their lives through structured support and community partnerships.
As part of its continued focus on recovery services, Jesus House will transition away from community meal services and partner with other organizations that specialize in meeting those needs.
“Recovery changes families, strengthens neighborhoods and creates healthier communities,” North said.
The expansion will allow Jesus House to serve more residents while strengthening partnerships with agencies that provide employment assistance, housing resources, health services and other support.
“This project reflects our commitment to thoughtful growth and responsible stewardship,” said Jon Bartel, chair of the Jesus House Board of Directors. “We are giving new purpose to an existing property while creating a campus that will help more people find recovery, employment and lasting independence.”
Renovation work is expected to begin following completion of the purchase process and final approvals.
