Sponsored by the Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City Inc., Saturday’s 12th annual Family Fun Fest will bid farewell to the summer season, starting at 5 p.m. at Washington Park, 400 N. High.
“Our annual Family Fun Fest is a community favorite and has become the traditional back-to-school celebration for northeast Oklahoma City,” said Valerie Thompson, president and chief executive officer of the Urban League, in a press release. “There is no other event in Oklahoma City where you can bring the entire family and enjoy a great concert; experience the richness of the African-American culture through music, dance and art; and receive free health screening, school supplies and important community resource information.”
ENTERTAINMENT
The activities lead up to a live performance at 9:30 p.m. by the legendary Eighties R&B group Midnight Star.
Throughout the event, however, there will be other performances by:
” Jets Inc.,
” Shortt Dogg,
” Kalazh Band and
” the Spencer Chikkz Drill Team.
A “Kiddie Corner” features:
” a free health fair,
” free school supplies and
” free Scholastic books.
