Alas, it’s a civic duty, and one to be taken seriously. Just ask Oklahoma County District Judge Ray Elliott, who recently placed a juror in contempt after the man twice showed up late to court. The juror, Ricky Christopher, was tardy from his lunch break, prompting a warning from Elliott not to let it happen again.
It happened again the following day.
The juror offered a lengthy excuse, even after Elliott told him to be quiet. That’s when the judge placed Christopher in contempt and threw him in jail, where one never has to worry about being on time.
