State Sen. Regina Goodwin, a Tulsa Democrat, drew attention last month after a traffic stop in which she accused the officer of “making things up.” A Tulsa County sheriff’s deputy said Goodwin had failed to completely stop at two stop signs.

Goodwin initially refused to provide her driver’s license and was handcuffed. When the deputy decided to write her a ticket for just one of the failed stops, she said he was changing his story, according to the officer’s camera. Goodwin’s response in this particular case didn’t seem warranted.

Then again, Goodwin’s encounter was tame compared to the trouble some of her fellow lawmakers have gotten into in recent years. It could be that she was just ready for the start of the new legislative session, where she will have plenty of opportunities to yell at her Republican colleagues.
