Rise and shine to a wild, "early bird" breakfast as the Oklahoma Zoological Society ZooFriends hosts the 22nd annual Ostrich Egg Breakfast, from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Oklahoma City Zoo, 2101 N.E. 50th.

What's on the breakfast menu for hungry mouths of all ages? The all-you-can-eat feast includes scrambled hens' eggs, pancakes, sausage, milk, juice, coffee and, of course, the famous, made-to-order ostrich-egg omelets!

"Besides great food, the activities include a craft table, clowns and musicians," said Kristen Salter, ZooFriends marketing coordinator. "Local celebrities participate as guest chefs, ranging from NewsChannel 4 anchor Ali Meyer to Oklahoma City Blazers captain Tyler Fleck."

Event guests may purchase a copy of the new children's book "Oh Ostrich Feathers!," signed by local author John Morrow. Set at the zoo, this storybook is a humorous tale of a distressed peacock feeling left out because she is not the center of attention at the Ostrich Egg Breakfast. Pick up a copy of the kid-friendly adventure at the chow-down celebration, and ZooFriends members will receive 15 percent off.

Reservations are required. Tickets for ZooFriends members are $8 for adults and $5 for children, and $10 for adults and $7 for children for nonmembers. Children ages 2 and under eat free. Tickets include admission to the zoo and the Fins and Feathers Show. For more information, call 427-2461, extension 618, or visit their site.
