Well, wouldnt yah know, we couldnt get to em all. So here are more.
Several bills seek to prohibit the use of foreign (read: Sharia) law in court. Speaking of foreigners, a proposal by Rep. Sally Kern, R-Oklahoma, House Bill 1866, would require that a charter schools board members and top administrators be U.S. citizens.
An avalanche of measures deals with a range of gun rights, including a number that would let people carry loaded firearms in their vehicle a basic no-no stressed in most gun-safety courses.
Then theres HB 1775 by Rep. Todd Russ, R-Cordell, which would allow convicted felons to own a gun once they complete their sentence. Rep. Steve Vaughan, R-Ponca City, goes further by allowing anyone with a conviction of assault and battery that caused serious physical injury to the victim to have a concealed-carry permit.
As
long as were talking about guns, lets talk schools. Kern has authored
the Parents Rights Act, which would let parents withdraw their kids
from class if they deem any of the curriculum harmful, defined as
material that questions beliefs or practices in sex, morality or
religion.
HB 674 by
Rep. Gus Blackwell, R-Laverne, would make it illegal to penalize
students in science class for giving answers based on their beliefs,
likely ensuring that God did it will be to essay questions what C is
to multiple choice exams.
And
finally, Rep. Emily Virgin, D-Norman, has introduced legislation that
lays out the purpose of sex education classes. We dont know whether to
snicker or cry that it took the only Virgin in the Legislature to point
out why sex ed is necessary.
Damn, but we are childish.
