The
reason, you ask? (Play along here.) Inhofe was one of the “Gang of 17”
senators who voted against a bill by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., to
remove sexual assault cases from the military chain of command.
As a Tulsa World blog
recently noted, the advocacy organization is targeting federal
lawmakers who opposed Gillibrand’s proposal to institute a special
prosecutor to handle serious crimes that are not military-specific, such
as undermining authority.
Speaking of undermining, that’s exactly what Inhofe said sexual assault in the military does to morale.
“Sexual
assault undermines morale, hurts readiness and breaks the trust of
those who have volunteered to serve our nation,” he said at a hearing in
early May.
Um, yeah.
Bummed-out morale seems like the least of it.
The Agenda Project Action Fund released a video of testimonies from sexual assault victims articulating not how their morale was undermined, but rather that “the chain of command failed them,” according to the blog.
