But just for the sake of being a completist, we’ll answer our own question: Obama is so unpopular that while Rick Santorum racked up a solid win in yesterday’s Oklahoma Republican presidential primary, the incumbent on the Democratic side of things actually lost 15 counties to folks who politely could be described as “fringe” candidates.
Obama won 57 percent of the Democratic vote, but the 18 percent captured by anti-abortion activist Randall Terry appears to be enough to capture at least one delegate, and possibly six. “There are still Democrats who love innocent babies more than they love the party,” Terry (pictured) told Tulsa World.
In nine counties (Beaver, Bryan, Grant, Geer, Harper, McCurtain, Roger Mills, Texas and Washita), Obama came in second to Terry, who founded the pro-life group Operation Rescue in the 1980s. In Beckham County, Obama placed second to perennial candidate Jim Rogers.
Five counties wound up with Obama coming in behind both Terry and Rogers.
