Fans of the award-winning “Fables” series will want to follow the comic title’s first spin-off, “Jack of Fables Vol. 1: The (Nearly) Great Escape.” The five-issue collection plops Jack (as in “and the Beanstalk”) in a prison community for those fairy-tale and nursery-rhyme characters who have fallen out of favor.
