Oklahoma Film Critics' Circle releases their picks and pans for the year

Iraq War thriller "The Hurt Locker" was named the Best Movie of 2009 by the Oklahoma Film Critics Circle. Kathryn Bigelow was also named Best Director for her role in steering the war drama, which follows an elite team of bomb-disarming soldiers. George Clooney was picked as Best Actor for his "Up in the Air" role and Meryl Streep was named Best Actress for portraying acclaimed chef Julia Child in "Julie & Julia."

The OFCC's top-10 list for 2009 also includes, "Up in the Air," "Inglourious Basterds," "(500)
Days of Summer," "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire," "A Serious Man," "Up," "District 9," "Fantastic Mr. Fox" and "Avatar." OFCC members also voted "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" as the Obviously Worst Film of the Year and expressed disappointment with "Amelia," naming it the Not-So-Obviously Worst
Film of the Year.

Gazette staffers Joe Wertz and Rod Lott, and OKG film critics Phil Bacharach, Doug Bentin and Mike Robertson are all members of the OFCC. A complete list of awards can be found at www.ofccircle.org.
